You might not know it, but shipping containers come in all shapes and sizes. Well, maybe not all shapes, but the umbrella term covers a few types of containers. Some come with only minor differences like different types of doors and features but some are much more distinct.
We spend a lot of time on social media showing all the possible applications and unique features of our shipping containers. Thanks to their modular design and solid construction, they are suitable for various uses including durable means of transportation, secure storage spaces and even safe enclosures to work in. But we never spent time discussing how shipping containers are built.
The container itself measures 40’ in length and 9’6” in height and can carry a payload of just over 40,000 lbs. It features 16 weatherproof vents that ventilate the entirety of the container to reduce moisture and prevent condensation from forming. The vents are strategically placed to allow air to flow throughout the container even if partitions are made inside it to create separate storage.
If we told you that shipping containers can actually benefit the environment, would you believe us?
Many people wouldn’t! Despite their large physical size, shipping containers actually have a very small environmental footprint. Because they were originally designed to transport cargo in harsh ocean conditions, they are built with weather resistant materials to prolong their usable life.
Being the largest wholesale provider of new and used storage containers in Canada comes with a unique set of challenges. Recently, we encountered a new one!
Our increasingly large and diverse fleet of containers available for sale and for rental meant our five-acre facility in Mississauga, ON could no longer keep up with our needs. To continue providing you with the best experience possible, we decided to upgrade our facility.
TOP REASONS WHY RENTING A SHIPPING CONTAINER IS BETTER THAN BUYING ONE
If you’ve figured out you need a shipping container to meet your storage needs , you’re probably now faced with the choice of whether to rent or to buy one. Although this might not seem obvious at first, renting a container does have certain advantages over buying one.
The word is out! Adding steel roll-up doors to a shipping container is the way to go to maximize both storage and accessibility.
For improved storage efficiency, the addition of the roll-up doors separates the container into different compartments and gives you more options to organize your belongings. Our team of certified welders cut open the container side walls and reinforce the openings with steel tubing. The reinforcement process ensures the structural integrity of the shipping container and makes installation on any side of the container easy. Once the structural mods are completed, we install the roll-up and color match the paint.
